Stage presence at the pageant

By September 29, 2022 No Comments
Absolu Elle,  leading pageant training and modeling academy in India writes week after week on topics related to pageantry and personality development.
A very important and interesting topic at the pageant is Stage Presence.
Few tips to remember when it’s your time to hit the ramp:
  • Eye contact:  Most important part of stage presence. Make an eye contact with audience and judges. Look to your left, right and then the judges. Don’t loose eye contact. It makes the audience feel happy and acknowledged.
  • Smile: A smile that goes from ear to ear is always impressive. Smile is sign of confidence.  Take a deep breath before you get on ramp, Smile and you are good to go.
  • Body language: I believe it’s more like speaking to people with gestures. No rapid movement make your movement slow. Your body posture speaks volumes. Remember you are unique and beautiful.
  • To be in the moment:  Do not worry at all about your looks, hairstyle, makeup. Just enjoy and be in the moment. Judges will give you marks on how you are carrying yourself,  the evening gown, your style and grace while you walk, your confidence and most importantly your smile.
  • Dress and Energy should match up: It really does not matter how expensive clothes you are wearing if the energy isn’t there. Always have that X factor and be positive. Believe in yourself. Be high on energy levels and you send same vibe to the judges and audience too.
It’s never in a pageant that most beautiful girl wins even if her communication skills, stage presence and preparation of pageant is not in place. I personally believe it’s never about how you look in pageant but how you present yourself, your strong communication skills and your practice in rampwalk and question and answers.
Don’t think pageantry is only about how you look and what you wear. It’s much more than that.
Be humble, be nice to every co contestant. Work on your postures in front of mirror. Practice your walk and Q n A in same way so you know your expressions and work on it.
